Reverend Raymond E. Gander
1931 - 2017
Went home to be with the Lord at the age of 86 .Preceded in death by his parents, Edwin & Winifred Gander and Rosalie F. Gander, his wife of 61 years. ; dear father of Deborah L. Gander-Smith, Harold R. Gander, Linda M. Gander-Smith and Bruce (Tabitha) Gander; dear grandfather of Christian, Melissa, Rachel, Tiffany, David, Hannah, Eric and Rebecca; great-grandfather of Jasmine, Jada, Jocelyn, Trevor, Christian, Jaxson, Haley Hanna, Scarlett, Everly, Arianna, Adalyn, Emelia and Pace.
As a young boy Reverend Gander felt the call of God on his life. He would speak/minister in the youth services at Glad Tidings Temple, where he along with Rosalie Cobb, grew up in church together. Their parents attending the church also. On July 14, 1951, Raymond & Rosalie were married in Glad Tidings Temple. On their wedding night, Raymond's best man drove them to Salem, Missouri so on Sunday morning they would begin a one week revival at Revival Tabernacle, where dad pastored his first church. They remained in Salem for about one year and then returned to the St. Louis area.
Around 1954 Reverend Gander founded & started Calvary Temple Church. He pastored Calvary Temple for about 12 years. In 1965 Reverend Gander evangelized & ministered in numerous places. Early in 1967 the pastor of Glad Tidings Temple became ill. Reverend Gander was called to come & preach for them at this time. After the passing of Reverend Samuel Lees, the congregation appointed Reverend Gander as their pastor. Not only did Raymond & Rosalie grow up in Glad Tidings, married there, all of their children were married in that church also, they came back to pastor their home church for 22 years of service to the Lord and devoted pastor to many.
Reverend Gander, always wanting to serve God's people, pastored at Owensville Full Gospel for about 5 years. He was also an interim pastor at Living Bread Fellowship in Washington, MO., an interim pastor at Evangel Temple in St.Louis, Mo. Long time member and a director of Full Gospel Assemblies of America. Honorary member of Independent Assemblies. Rev. Gander was a businessman and entrepreneur throughout his life time. Owning several card & gift shops, retail businesses and sales work.
Reverend Gander was also and Elder and Officer of Life & Praise Ministries and an Honorary Officer of Life & Praise Ministries until his passing. He loved gospel singing, picnics, eating, ice cream, fishing, 4th of July, parades & spending time with his family. He never met a stranger or someone he would not lend a helping hand to. He wil be greatly missed by all who knew & loved hime.
