James R. Forgash, Sr.

1943 - 2017

Baptized into the hope of Christ's Resurrection on Monday, May 8, 2017, Dear son of the late Rudolph and Cecilia Forgash; Beloved husband of Barbara Gwynn Forgash; Cherished dad of Andrea (Christopher) Libby, Jim (Kristin) Forgash, Jr. and Rebecca (Ryan) O'Connell; Dear grandfather of Cecilia Forgash, Gabe Libby, Camille O'Connell and Evelyn O'Connell; dear cousin of Carol Hill and friend to many.

James enjoyed life. He was such a generous person who gave his time, talents, and money to others, always willing to give a helping hand. He was a perfectionist, and his hard work and meticulousness always shined. James enjoyed countless good times on the renowned Wednesdays with his friends at golf, playing cards, betting on games, and a few libations. He was known to many as simply, Forgash.

As a grandpa, he was fondly called, Papa. He enjoyed sharing his sweet tooth with the kids. He was known for an early morning donut delivery, pancakes for breakfast, a run to Ted Drews after school, or a freezer full of popsicles in “Grandpa’s Garage”.  Forever we will hear him say in our minds and hearts, “It’s Grandpa”.

As a father, James will always be thought of as a precious soul. He was modest, hardworking, and took great pride in the successes of his children. He would brag about each one, who are a true reflection of him. All the memories and time together will be cherished forever.

As a husband, James was a rock. He was a best friend, devout to prayer, and committed to family. Gwynn brought out the softer side of him, and could often be heard saying, “Lighten up Jim”. She was able to get him to participate in almost anything from camel rides and goofy Christmas cards to even in his final days wearing a clown nose. He will forever be in her heart.

Donna Marie (Saunchegrow) Taylor

Sept. 6, 1945- Dec. 24, 2016

Donna Marie (Saunchegrow) Taylor, the tenth child of Freddie and Dimples (Doss) Saunchegrow was born on September 6, 1945 in South St. Louis and departed this life at her home on December 24, 2016 at the age of 71 years.

Donna being the youngest, was naturally spoiled by her older siblings, she was so little that they used one of her father’s handkerchief as a diaper. Donna also had polio as a child. It has been told that if Donna could not have her way, she would have tantrums and hold her breathe until she got her way, a few times she passed out.  It is hard to reconcile this to the quite woman that most knew her to be. Being just two years older than her first nephews (the twins), Donna grew up along with her nieces and nephews, more as an older sister than aunt thus forming special bonds with each of them.

Most of Donna’s life was spent living in South St. Louis, she attended Humbolt Elementary and in 1964 graduated from McKinley High School. She also attended Wurduck Memorial Presbyterian Church.

Donna was married to Larry Taylor from 1973 until his death in 2014 after 41 years of marriage. Being close to her sister Janet, Donna and Larry purchased their home across the street from the Hassler’s, where she could help with Janet’s three sons.

For many years, Donna worked as a data entry clerk at the Jefferson Gravois Bank, until it was purchased by the Bank of America and she was relocated to the downtown office from where she retired from.

Donna enjoyed reading and going out to eat with family and friends. She would attend the monthly Goldbug luncheons and every Friday evening she would have dinner with longtime friends Linda and Sandy.

Donna is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Larry, five sisters: Gloria (Peachy) Binder, Virginia Goede, Janet Hassler, Jean Ussery and Carol Saunchegrow, two brothers: Vernon and Donald Saunchegrow, one niece Beverly and nephew Clifford.

She is survived by two sisters: Helen (Ed) Hahler and Maureen Saunchegrow, a special nephew Mark Hassler, son of her heart. Ten nephews: Art, Vernon G., Gary, Jeffery, Joe, Mike, Donnie, Freddie, Herbert and Vernon S., nine nieces: Debbie, Linda, Cindy, Betsy, Susie, LuAnn, Nancy, Vickie and Denise, a host of great and great-great nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.

Each person has a special memory of Donna, she will be missed by those who knew and loved her.

Terri Kissack Howell was born in Kansas City, Kansas on July 2, 1955 to Harold Kissack and Maribelle Kissack Hogan. She was the youngest of three girls. Terri passed away on November 21st.

Terri was a voracious reader, loved history and always sought the truth. She was an accomplished seamstress, talented fencer, wonderful cook, avid gardener, active with living history and loved reenacting especially at Marrow Bone Springs. She was multi-lingual and very charitable volunteering her time in Ecuador with Amigos De Los Americas as well as multiple historic sites around the country.

Terri and Jerry loved to travel and see the world, recently traveling on a transatlantic cruise to Spain, Italy and Athens before their first trip to Disney World this summer with their grandchildren, who cherished the time together-they loved her so much.

She was passionate and vocal about equal rights and wanted to leave the world a better place for her daughter and granddaughter. She was intelligent and strong and not afraid to speak her mind.

She will be dearly missed. In lieu of flowers, a donation to one of Terri's favorite charities would be appreciated.
