William Raymond “Bill” Presnell, 77, of Highland, IL, died August 13, 2020. Bill was the founder and proud owner of Decal Specialties, a sign and graphics company specializing in the production and installation of lettering and logos for fleet vehicles. Prior to forming Decal Specialties in the early 1980s, Bill worked many years as a salesman in the trucking industry spending time at Trailmobile, Midwest Freightways, and Truck Centers, Inc. He originally entered the workforce at Rawlings Sporting Goods in their Product Development Division.

Bill had a youthfulness that was contagious and he was a man of many interests including cars, sports, music, boating, cooking, home improvements, business, politics, his many dogs and a good debate.

He was a passionate St. Louis Cardinals, Blues and Rams fan who, in 1998, attended every Cardinals home game, the year Mark McGwire broke Roger Maris’ home run record. He was also in attendance for every home game of the Rams’ 1999-2000 run to the Super Bowl. He loved attending sporting events of all kinds, especially when surrounded by his family and friends.

Bill enjoyed frequenting establishments that feature live music, good food and fun people, a number of which are located in the Soulard neighborhood of the City of St. Louis.

One of his greatest passions was planning and going on vacations to tropical destinations, especially Hawaii. Over the years, Bill vacationed in Hawaii on numerous occasions and after each visit he always yearned to go back.

Born January 9, 1943, in Mt. Carmel, IL, he was the son of the late William Elijah and Hazel Marie (Riggs) Presnell.

He is survived by his wife of 21 years: Connie Sue (Thien) Winkeler of Highland IL; two sons: William (Jessica) Presnell, Jr. of DeSoto, MO and Gregory Presnell of St. Louis, MO; two stepsons: Shane (Stacey Port) Winkeler of Highland, IL and Nick (Kelly) Winkeler of Highland, IL; three grandchildren: Jacob J. Presnell, Zander R. Presnell and Grayson K. Presnell; and a step granddaughter: Lilianna J. Winkeler.

Service: Visitation will be held on Friday, August 21st, from 2:00pm to 6:00pm at McLaughlin Funeral Home, 2301 Lafayette Ave., St Louis, MO 63104. Immediately following, all are invited to join the family at Hammerstone’s bar & restaurant (Bill’s favorite hangout), located @ 9th & Russell in Soulard, to share memories of Bill and celebrate his life.
