Condolences
2009-10-2514:39:35 The loss to our community, to his family and those who loved him cannot be measured in mere words. Our sweet Santa and dear friend has left a terrible void. May he rest in peace.
2009-10-2411:31:47 Dave will always be in our hearts as a great friend and neighbor, a staunch supporter of historic restoration and of course as the perennial Santa Claus as the Christmas house tour. We will miss him terribly, but are fortunate to have known hm for over 25 years in Lafayette Square.
2009-10-2318:53:17 Dave truly exemplified the giving spirit of Lafayette Square. He was one of the first neighbors we met, and definitely one of the most memorable, gracious, and kind. His positive attitude and his hugs will be missed by by many.
2009-10-2314:42:17 I had the honor of serving with Dave Diehl for two years in the LSRC. He was someone I could always count on when I needed him most. His tireless enthusiasm and p[censored]ion for the neighborhood he loved so much stood as a brilliant example to all. His smile and laugh were infectious, and you couldn't help but be brought into a better state by his presence. May you rest in peace good sir. The world is a darker place in your absence.
2009-10-2311:19:29 Because I didn't know Dave well, I knew only his strengths. Life in Lafayette Square will certainly be diminished by his absence. May he rest in peace.
2009-10-2310:25:02 I knew Dave when I had worked with him. He was a very good listener and was often concerned of others. Even though I had not seen him in a few years, I recently had thought of him and wondered how he was doing. I am sure his good heart and wonderful disposition will live forever.
2009-10-2309:22:23 It's hard to imagine never talking with Dave again. I met him thru his love for his animals at Jefferson Animal Hosp. I always knew when he came in the door, he was going to bring his smile. I had many wonderful conversations with him. Sweetest man and very thankful I had a chance to know him. I will remember him forever. Thru him, he also brought me another friend with a great smile, David Spagna. We are all sad, but knowing Dave, he does not want us to be sad but wants us all to smile again.
2009-10-2308:14:28 Dave will forever remain in our hearts, fondly remembered as our dear friend and jolly Santa Claus to the neighborhood children.
2009-10-2307:49:25 The nicest man I ever knew. Always made me laugh. Goodbye dear friend.
2009-10-2222:26:10 What a lovely gentle man, I will miss him for his easy smile and friendly hugs. Sleep well, dear friend and guide us along the way.
